Helen J. Cestaro D’Alessio, 89, of Peregrine’s Landing, Clinton, formerly of Weaver Circle, North Haven, passed away Friday, February 17, 2012 at her residence in Clinton. She was the wife of the late Carmen D’Alessio. Helen was born in New Haven on July 3, 1922; a daughter of the late Americo and Anna Conte Cestaro; she was and Executive Secretary to the Vice President of Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield until her retirement. Beloved mother of Joseph E. D’Alessio and his wife Marie of Clinton, and the late Matthew J. D’Alessio, Sr. Beloved grandmother of Jared (Jessica) D’Alessio, Juditha D’Alessio and Matthew J. D’Alessio, Jr. Loving great-grandmother of Lia D’Alessio. Loving sister of Rose DiTallo of Wallingford and the late Umberto and Stephen Cestaro, Marie Bartolini and Concetta Fiore. Also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Tuesday morning at 9:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Hamden at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow in the St. Lawrence Mausoleum. The visiting hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Our hearts go out to you and your family at the time of your loss. Our family will continue to pray for you and ask God to give you peace that only He can give. Dear Joey, Our hearts are so saddened to hear of your beloved Mother’s passing. Helen was a beautiful woman, inside and out. We all have so many beautiful memories of her and your Dad’s trips to South Barre as we all grew up. So much fun and laughter. All of our lives are woven with memories of this wonderful, loving woman. We all loved her very much. God bless her and may she rest in peace.
