Anthony “Imps” Salvati, 85, of North Haven, passed away Saturday March 3, 2012 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Loving husband of Amelia “Amy” Orico. Born in New Haven on January 22, 1927; son of the late Fred and Jennie Cavaliere Salvati. Anthony served at the end of WWII as a Sargeant in the U.S. Army in Italy. He began his 35 year career as a teacher and principal in the New Haven School System. He loved football; playing, refereeing, watching and was instrumental in organizing the East Shore Sandlot Reunion. He enjoyed bowling, playing horse shoes, poker and scrabble and was an ardent fan of the UCONN Women’s Basketball Team. Most of all he enjoyed a day at Foxwoods with his wife. Father of Susan Salvati (Ken Wininger) Mendillo of North Haven, Dianne(Frankie)Harding of Hartland and Laurie(Paul)Harteau of Trumbull. Grandfather of Vanessa, Dana, Lacey, Leigh, April, Christie & Destiny. Great Grandfather of Henry David and Jackson Anthony. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers, James, Salvatore, Fred and Michael Salvati and a sister Grace Kusmit.
His funeral Procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., on Wednesday morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 11:00. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm.
