Anthony “Babe†Capasso, 73, of Coventry Circle, North Haven, passed away Monday, March 12, 2012 at the Hospital of St. Raphael. He was the husband of Eleanor Sullivan Capasso. Born in New Haven on October 29, 1938; son of the late Ralph and Annamarie Proto Capasso. Babe had worked for the City of New Haven for 39 years until his retirement; he had served his country faithfully in the U.S. Marine Corp; was a member of the American Legion-Murray/Reynolds Post #76; enjoyed playing softball; was a former baseball coach for the Dom Aitro Youth Baseball League; was a member of the Annex Y.M.A and was an avid New York Yankee fan. Father of Ralph Capasso, Michael (Debra) Capasso all of North Haven, and Annamarie (Vincent) Bernardo of Meriden. Pop of Anthony Capasso, David and Britnee Lafond, and Giana Capasso. Brother of Marie Berretta of Orange, Annamarie Perrara of West Haven and the late Ralph Capasso and Patricia Purcillo. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You†on Babe’s behalf to the North Haven Fire Dept,, Paramedics and police dept. for always being there.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Friday morning at 10:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Frances Cabrini Church at 11:00. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 pm.
Dad I never thanked you enough for all that you did for me me , likr teaching me to play baseball , helping get my job with the Department of Corrections and many more things. I miss you everyday until we meet again I love you and will be at your grave site reading you the yankee box scores.
