John Joseph Landino (Pop), 77, of Hamden, CT, husband of Anne Tassmer Ullman Landino, passed away Wednesday, March 14th, 2012 at the Hospital of St. Raphael after a brief illness. He was born in New Haven on January 1, 1935, son of the late Charles and Ursula Proto Landino. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph A. Landino. John worked for many years at UMC Electronics of North Haven and Mangler Engineering of Hamden before he retired. He was the proud owner of Landino’s Skate Sharpening Business; for over forty years he sharpened many a players skates and also kept up with all the local hockey news. Besides being a hockey fan, he loved to fish and was a big fan of the UCONN Girl’s Basketball Team. He is also survived by two daughters, Lisa Landino of Hamden and Debra (John) Blazon of Orlando, FL; sons, Robert (Deirdre) Ullman of Fairfield and William (Kelly) Ullman of Glastonbury; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Tassmer of Hamden; grandchildren John J. Landino II, Matthew, Kathryn and Kerry Ullman; a niece, Amy Landino of West Haven and a cousin, Robert (Jeanne) Proto of Branford. Special thanks to the fabulous staff at St. Raphael’s Hospital, their compassion and care was deeply appreciated.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue on Monday, March 19th at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Sunday, March 18th from 3 to 7 pm.
