John J. Doran, Jr., 64, of North Haven, passed away on Saturday March 17, 2012 at the CT Hospice, Branford. He was the husband of 42 years to Christena Kelley Doran. Born in South Boston on May 28, 1947; son of the late John J. Doran, Sr. and Arlene Nolan Doran. John obtained an Associate and Bachelor degrees from the University of New Haven; served on the East Haven Police Department for eight years; was a part-time paramedic for AMR & Hunter’s Ambulance and was an Instructor at the Police Officer Standard and Training Council for many years. John had served in the U.S. Army Reserves; was a member of the American Heart Association; the Narcotic Enforcement Officers Association (NEOA), and the Connecticut Search and Rescue. Father of Elizabeth Doran of North Haven, Katherine Kaminski and her husband Andrew of Cooper City, Florida. Grandfather of Katie and Brett Kaminski. Cousin of Mike (Nadine Diaz) Nolan, Patty (Greg) Barrett, Barbara (Steve) Brooks, Suzanne (Andrè) Martin, and Mary Wakeford.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Wednesday morning at 9:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Therese Church at 10:00. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. The visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm. Should friends desire memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492.
