Anthony R. DeLucia, Sr., 79, of 67 Sackett Point Road, North Haven, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the Hamden Health Care Center. He was the husband of 55 years to Rose DiBiaso DeLucia. Born in New Haven on March 30, 1932; son of the late James and Philomena Idaresta DeLucia. Anthony had served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and had worked for the New Haven Board of Education for many years until his retirement. He was an avid NY Met and UCONN Girl’s Baskeball fan. Father of Anthony (Phyllis) DeLucia, Jr. of Hamden, James DeLucia of New Haven and Thomas (Maritza) DeLucia of Hamden. Grandfather of Christina, Anthony III, Salvatore, Zachary, Laura, James, Chelsea, Thomas, Jr. and Tatyanna. Brother of Mary (Anthony) Giannotti of Branford and the late Raffaella DeMatteo, Jennie Fraenza, Thomas, Angelo, Joseph and Fiore DeLucia. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He will be missed by his card partners Mary Ferraro and Jane Wnek. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You†to the nurses and staff at the Hamden Health Care Center and its Hospice Care for all the comfort and care given to Anthony.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue on Saturday morning at 9:15. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Michael Church, New Haven at 10:00. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 pm. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the CT Hospice, Inc., 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
