Loretta A. DeMarco D’Amato, 85, of Cheshire passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the wife of the late Michael J. D’Amato. Loretta was born in New Haven on November 18, 1929; daughter of the late Angelo and Raffaella Salzano DeMarco. She worked as a registered nurse at the Arden House in Hamden before her retirement in 1982. She was a member of Grace New Haven School of Nursing Alumni Association and was an avid bingo player at the Cheshire Senior Center. Mother of Rosalie (Dennis) Swanson, Laura D’Amato (Jon MacFarlane) and Michele (William) Sobolewski. Grandmother of Matthew Swanson, Michael and Allison Sobolewski. Sister of Antoinette “Dolly” Ianniello and the late Dominic, Frank, and John DeMarco, Mary Salemme, Eleanor Fappiano and Helen Cifarelli.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, on Saturday at 11:00. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Francis Cabrini Church at 11:30. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Saturday from 10 to 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital PO Box 50 Memphis, TN 38101-9929.
