Charles R. Dumond, Jr. age 83, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 after a long illness. He is survived by his loving wife, Nila Dougan. Born in Hamden, Connecticut, son of the late Marion H. Healey Dumond and Charles R. Dumond, Sr. He is also survived by his sister, Mildred “Penny” Dumond Lawn. Charles attended grammar school at St. Francis School in New Haven and graduated from East Haven High School. During WW II Charles served his Country in the United States Army and Navy. After serving his Country he owned and operated Dumond Construction Inc. where he built many homes in the New haven County area. Charles was an avid pilot and enjoyed his private aircraft for most of his life. He recently donated his prized Beechcraft Bonanza airplane to Questar III BOCES Columbia Green Education Center, Troy, New York to assist in the education of future pilots and aircraft mechanics. Charles will be sorely missed by all those who had the pleasure to have known him.
Private funeral services were entrusted to the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue.
