Lorraine J. DeFilippo Paradise, 81, of Hamden passed away peacefully on Saturday June 18, 2016 at the St. Raphael Campus of Yale New Haven Hospital with her family by her side. Lorraine was born in New Haven on October 16, 1934; daughter of the late James and Angelica DeFilippi DeFilippo; and had worked as an Office Worker for the former Rudnick’s & Sons of North Haven. Lorraine was a loving mother and grandmother who dedicated herself to her family whom she loved unconditionally. Mother of Patty (Brian) Averna and Susan (Kenneth) Mappa. Grandmother of Daniel (Lauren) Averna, Nicholas (fiancé Kayce Hicks) Averna and Tiana Mappa. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Predeceased by a brother Salvatore DeFilippo. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Dr. Tara and the Hoot Staff, and the Yale Heart Center and staff for the excellent comfort and care they provided to Lorraine.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Thursday morning at 10:30. Family and friends may call from 9:00 to 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Stephen’s Church at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the St. Lawrence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2080 Silas Deane Highway, 2nd Floor, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.

The picture of your mom captures the essence of her being – gracious, fun loving, beautiful and lady-like.
Lorraine took great pride in her children and grandchildren and lived an exemplary life of loving and giving. Tom and I were pleased to know her and to observe her interactions with all of you. We send our sympathy to her beloved family, and feel assured that she is safe and at peace.

Lorraine was one of my favorite patient ever. she always come with smile for her appointment, that you can't thing what she going thru her health. you always be miss. My prayer to her family and friend specially her daughter that I seen her coming with her and Denise.
