Susan Savo Corraro of Short Beach Road, East Haven, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Martin E. Corraro. Sue was born in New Haven on August 21, 1929; daughter of the late Dominic and Mary Cappella Savo; had worked for JBT Instruments of New Haven for 25 years and later for the New Haven Register, Advertising Dept. until her retirement. Sue was a member of St. Vincent de Paul’s Church for over 65 years; enjoyed her frequent trips to the casino; was a member of the Jolly Timers but most of all she enjoyed and love her family unconditionally. Mother of Linda (Joseph) Russo and Janet (James) Dowd. Grandmother of Joey Russo, Lisa (Jamie) Rivard, Jessica Dowd and James Dowd, Jr. Great-Grandmother of Ryan and Matthew Rivard and Payton Orosco. Sister of Antoinette Brignola, Edith Paolillo and the late Rae Palmieri, Ann Catania and Dominic Savo. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Dr. Peter Huvelle and his staff for the excellent care and comfort provided to Sue.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Wednesday morning at 8:45. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Vincent de Paul’s Church at 9:30. Interment will follow in East Lawn Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
To Janet and Linda and their families my deepest smypathy! Your mom was a dear client of mine for a good many years, and will I miss her sunny personality and her sharp sense of humor! We had a lot of laughs!! May she rest in eternal peace ????
