Dominic F. Vorio, 90, of Frost Drive, North Haven, passed away Monday, April 2, 2012 at the Masonicare Health Center, Wallingford. Husband of the late Raffaela T. Accarino Vorio. Born in New Haven on January 27, 1922; son of the late Pelligrino and Elvira Vellaccio Vorio. Dominic had worked for the former Winchester’s for 40 years, for U.S. Repeating Arms for three years until his retirement and after was a school bus monitor in North Haven. He had served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army during WW II. Father of Peter Vorio and his wife Rosary, Catherine Smittner and her husband Leonard Smittner, Jr. all of North Haven. Grandfather of Peter Vorio, Jr., Diana (Jay) Langner, Christine (Michael) Amendola & Leonard Smittner III. Great-grandfather of Leonard Smittner IV, Samatha Rose Langner, Jacob Joseph Langner, Anthony & Alison Amendola. Brother of Peter, Michael and Catherine Vorio, Rose Kozolis and the late Frank Vorio. Brother-in-law of Nettie, Phyllis and Helen Vorio, and the late Edward Kozolis. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Thursday morning at 9:30. A blessing will be given in St. Therese Church at 10:00. Entombment will follow in the All Saints Mausoleum. The visiting hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 pm.
