Florence Marie Esposito Caporale, age 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday February 19, 2015 at Benchmark Assisted Living in Hamden. Florence was born on January 11, 1925 as the daughter of the late John and Carmela Aitro Esposito. She was predeceased by her husband Nicholas Caporale and is survived by three brothers Frank, John and Edward Esposito all of Hamden. She was a life time resident of Hamden and longtime waitress at the Weathervane Restaurant, Ambassador, New Haven Lawn Club and Snack Shoppe. Florence was from a family of twelve children and predeceased by brothers Pasquale, Charles, Lawrence, Anthony, Dominic, Sisters Connie, Emily and Louise. She is survived by many nephews and nieces who she loved and cherished. She was one of the four “Golden Girls” of the Esposito Family and the sisters were admired by the eight brothers. Her gourmet cooking was a highlight of family gatherings and holidays. She will be dearly missed but we take comfort in all she accomplished. She was a humble person and celebrated life every day and grateful for all her blessings she received. Florence enjoyed frequent luncheons and casino trips with her friends and sister in law Carolyn Esposito.  The family extends special thanks to Caroline Esposito for her skilled nursing care and compassion in recent years.

In accordance with Florence’s wishes friends may visit with the family on Tuesday morning at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 2809 Whitney Ave. Hamden; a Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be private in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
