Elizabeth “Betty” Venditto Florio, 79, a resident of East Haven for the past 58 years, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Hospital of St. Raphael. She was wife of the late Carl “Flip” Florio. Born in New Haven on December 28, 1932; daughter of the late Peter and Lucille Chambrelli Venditto. Mrs. Florio attended St. John’s High School, had worked for many banks over the years including Bank of Boston and New Haven Savings Bank. She loved cooking, baking and spending time with her grandchildren. She was past president of the St. Vincent de Paul Ladies Guild and past vice-president of the Annex Y.M.A. Ladies Auxillary. Mother of Gerald Florio of East Haven, Carl Florio of Wallingford and Victor (Grace) Florio of Milford. Grandmother of Christina, Peter, Anthony, Jacquelin, Victoria, Nicholas and Christopher. Great-Grandmother of Samuel. Sister of Michael (Lorraine) Venditto. Also survived by several close nieces, nephews, cousins, especially her loving cousin Louise Perrotti.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Saturday morning at 9:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Therese Church, North Haven at 10:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 pm.
