Miriam Shinn Brown, 90, formerly of 555 Pool Road, North Haven, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the Masonicare, Wallingford with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Russell Howard Brown. Mrs. Brown was born in Doncaster, England on January 4, 1924; daughter of the late Frederick and Ethel Whiteley Shinn; had worked for the former Seamless Rubber Co., Circuit Wise and for many years assisted her daughter with the operation and performances of the Gloria Jean Dance Studios. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Transatlantic Brides & Parents Association, the Wallingford and North Haven Senior Centers, and the Faith United Methodist Church of North Haven. Mother of Gloria Jean Cuming, Carol Russo and Russell H. Brown, Jr. Sister of Rex Shinn. Also survived by five grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Private funeral services have been entrusted to the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Interment will be private in the North Haven Center Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.
