George Thomas Mirakian, 65, a Wallingford resident for 34 years, formerly of North Haven, passed away Friday, June 15, 2012 at MidState Medical Center, Meriden. He was the husband of Denise Donnelly Mirakian. Born in Derby on February 13, 1947; son of the late Richard and Katherine Nero Mirakian. George served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; he had worked as an Electrician for the Chenbro Company; he was a member of the V.F.W. Post #591of Wallingford, the American Legion Post #73 for 41 years, also the Eagles and Elks Clubs of Wallingford. Father of Richard Peter Mirakian of Brandon, FL. Brother of Patricia Mirakian of Galveston, TX and Kurt Edward Mirakian of San Antonio, TX. Brother-in-law of Maureen Jentoft of Old Saybrook and Daniel Donnelly of OK. Uncle of Christopher Michael Mirakian, Sr. of San Antonio, TX. Great-uncle of Christopher Michael Mirakian, Jr. George loved and grew up in the large Mirakian and Nero families with many aunts, uncles, first, second and third cousins.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Tuesday morning at 9:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 10:00. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Monday from 5 to 8 pm.
