Madelyn Acampora Sansone, 88, of North Haven, formerly of Willow Street, New Haven, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012 at the Masonic Health Care Center, Wallingford. She was the wife of the late Alfred “Fred” Sansone. Born in New Haven on August 26, 1923; daughter of the late Peter and Virginia Acampora. Madelyn had worked as a hairdresser in her younger years, having owned her own salon in New Haven; later her and her late husband were the owners and operators of the former Edward’s Cleaners on Willow Street, New Haven. She attended the North Haven Senior Center and the Clelian Adult Day Care Center of Hamden. Mother of MaryEllen Sansone of Wallingford, Joan (Chip) Hillo of North Haven and Jim (Theresa) Sansone of New Haven. MeMe of Arianna DeMatteo. Predeceased by a grandson Craig M. Hillo; sisters Molly Martino, Carrie Massa, Alice Frinzi, her twin Jane Acampora and a brother Greg Acampora.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Wednesday morning at 10:30. Family and friends may call from 9:00 to 10:30 am. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 11:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Craig M. Hillo Memorial Scholarship Fund, 78 Blue Hills Road, North Haven, CT 06473.
