Christopher Michael Smith, 68, a 520 Pool Road, North Haven, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was the former husband of Diane DiTallo Smith. Born in New Haven on June 13, 1944; son of the late Christopher J. and Margaret Rousome Smith. Christopher received a Bachelors degree from Providence College; served his country faithfully as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era; worked for his family business, American Colonial Furniture Shop from 1970 to 1990; later working at the former Corametrics until its closing and later for Superior Printing Ink, Inc. of Hamden until his retirement. Father of Laura Ward (Frank) of Hamden, Craig Smith (Denise) of Orange and Jennifer Smith-Somuk (Matthew) of Wallingford. Grandfather of Nolan and Kasey Smith. Son-in-law of Rose DiTallo of Wallingford.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Tuesday morning at 9:00. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, New Haven at 9:30. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Monday from 5 to 8 pm.
We were saddened to hear of Chris’ passing. He was a close childhood friend and Best Man.
