John Samperi, 79, of State Street, North Haven, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2012 at his home. He was the loving husband of the late Joan Clark Samperi. Born in West Haven on August 30, 1932; son of the late Peter and Josephine Jorr Samperi. Growing up in West Haven John enjoyed the outdoors and began hunting and fishing at a young age with his older brothers. He passed these traditions on to his children and grandchildren. If there was a project to be completed at his children’s homes, John was always there to lend a hand. He was a “jack-of-all-trades†and his many selfless acts will be dearly missed by all who came in contact with him. John was an amazing gardener and liked to spend time tending to his many vegetables and plants. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially at the many holiday’s and gatherings that were so common. Father of Clark Samperi, Debra (Lance) Farquharson all of East Haven, Janet Alessi (Todd) Greenlaw, Kevin (Andrea “Fredâ€) Samperi all of North Haven, David Samperi of Northford, Donna (Donald) McNamara, Crystal (Joseph) Mercuriano all of Wallingford. Grandfather of Brett, Jason, Laura, Sarah, Axel, David T., Maxine and Cameron Samperi, Brian Farquharson, April & Amy Alessi, Amanda & Andrew Adinolfi, Nicole & Joshua McNamara, Hunter, Collin and Sam Mercuriano. Brother of Joseph Samperi, Lena DelFranco, Concetta Samperi, Julia Dolceaqua and the late Peter, Jr., Lawrence & Salvatore Samperi and Josephine Fritz. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Jessica Joan McNamara.
Family and friends may call at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue on Monday, July 9th from 4 to 8 pm. Funeral services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104 or the Hamden Fish & Game, Willow St., Hamden, CT 06518.
