David E. Ellis, Sr., 74, of Northford, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012 peacefully at the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, Plantsville with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of 52 years to Judith A. Dering Ellis. Born in New Haven on December 3, 1937; son of the late Frank and Alma East Ellis. David was a graduate of Notre Dame High School of West Haven; obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Providence College; served as a Captain in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era; worked for the CT Laminating Company and later for Raveis Real Estate. He was past president of the Max Sinoway Baseball league; was a parishioner of St. Frances Cabrini Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister and a C.C.D. Teacher. Father of Lori (Michael) DePaola, David (Laurie) Ellis, Jr., Leslie (Frank) Perrelli, Lisa (Roger) Lutz and Robert (Gloria) Ellis. Grandfather of Allison, Michael & Robert DePaola, Alicia & Brandon Ellis, Nicole & Joseph Perrelli, Tyler & Dana Lutz, Christina & Bryanna Ellis. Brother of Francis Ellis C.S.C. of South Bend, IN and Harry (Elaine) Ellis of Napa, CA.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Frances Cabrini Church, Pond Hill Rd., North Haven on Saturday morning at 11:30 to attend a mass of Christian burial. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Ctr., 1261 South Main St., Plantsville, CT 06479 or St. Frances Cabrini Church, 6 Welch Rd., North Haven, CT 06473. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue has been entrusted with the arrangements.
