Rocco “Rocky” Franco, 93, of North Haven, passed away peacefully Monday, July 23, 2012 at the Hospital of St. Raphael. He was the beloved husband of 68 years to Olga Kuzma Franco. Born in North Haven on August 12, 1918; son of the late Pasquale and Maria Eleanora Petrillo Franco. After operating his family farm, Rocky opened North Haven Farm Equipment, worked Construction on the Pratt & Whitney building and until his retirement had worked for L.G. DeFelice. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #478; was and Air Warden, North Haven Supernumerary Policeman; member of the Montowese Volunteer Fire Dept, a North Haven Dog Warden and a parishioner of St. Barnabas Church. Rocky enjoyed traveling throughout the world, gardening and truly enjoyed a good time. He devoted his life to his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by his devoted sons, Ronald (Veronica) Franco, Daniel Franco and Thomas (Robin) Franco. He cherished his grandchildren, Mark (Elizabeth) Franco, Michael (Melissa) Franco and the late Kristopher Franco as well as his dear great-grandchildren, Olivia, Matteo, Luke and Jonathan Franco. Brother-in-law of Joan Kuzma of Madison and the late John Kuzma and Luke Camarota. Uncle of Jeffrey Kuzma of Madison, the late James Kuzma of Maddison, Freddie Franco of TN, Maureen Franco of New Haven and Verna Layman of FL. Predeceased by a brother, Fred Franco and sisters, Lucille Franco and Mary Camarota.
Family and friends may call at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Friday from 5 to 7 pm. Funeral services and interment will be private.
