Sarah (Frances) “Iggy” Cosgrove Nugent, 95, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2012 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford. She was the wife of Robert Frederick Nugent of 57 years and was a resident of North Haven since 1955. Born in Norwich, CT on September 16, 1917, daughter of the late James F. & Sarah McMahon Cosgrove. Active member of St. Barnabas Church, Women’s Club, Altar Care, Social Action; and CCD Teacher for 15 years. Volunteer at Fair Haven Soup Kitchen 10 years and American Red Cross 20 years. Employed in IBM Department of the former New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroads. Mother of Steven J. (Adrienne) Nugent of North Haven; Daniel R. (Marilyn) Nugent of Delmar, NY; Peter F. (Elizabeth) Nugent of Salem, MA. Also survived by five grandchildren. Predeceased by sisters Marie Cosgrove, Agnes Zesner, Marjorie Hengst, Anne Haynes , a brother James Cosgrove and her first husband Staff Sergeant John J. Holland, killed in the Battle of the Bulge.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Ave., North Haven on Wednesday morning at 10:00 to attend a mass of Christian burial. Interment will be private in All Saints Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the CT Hospice, Inc., 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue has been entrusted with the arrangements.
