Louis Joseph Pierandi, 85, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Yale New Haven; St. Raphael’s campus with his family by his side.  He was the beloved husband of 61 years to Marie Parise Pierandi.  Louis was born in New Haven on March 11, 1930; son of the late Natalia and Joseph Pierandi; graduate of the former St. Mary’s High School in 1948; served his country faithfully in the US Army during the Korean war; was co-owner and operator with his father of the former Joseph Pierandi & Sons Trucking Co; had worked as a meat-cutter for the Grand Union Company for 35 years and retired from Big Y seven years ago.   Lou was a pioneer in the field of bone marrow transplant having donating his bone marrow in 1959 to his late daughter.  In their 61 years together, Lou and Marie enjoyed many travels together to Europe and island cruises and enjoyed the casino, and found great joy in their growing family.  Beloved father of Laureen Pierandi and Terry McCarthy, Deborah and Salvatore Ruseitti, Joseph Pierandi, Joanne and Paul Johansen and the late Valerie Ann Pierandi.  Beloved grandfather of Maria (Nick) Ludwig, Gabriella (Adam) Leonetti, Aine, Chris (Tina) Johansen, Torren, Nicoletta (Mark) Murphree, Erik, Kiera, Serena, Shalyn and Gianna.  Great-Grandfather of Colin, Madison and Isabella. His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Saturday morning at 9:30.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Frances Cabrini Church at 10:00 am.  Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.  The visiting hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 pm.  Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O.
