Joan was also preceded in death by her brothers Dana and Robert. Joan was a gym teacher at North Haven High School and a beloved coach of girls’ sports where she established the girl’s interscholastic athletic program at NHHS. Joan was a dedicated mother, never missing any of her children’s games, plays or other events. Joan was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the New Haven Country Club, having served as the President of the Women’s Golf Association and on the membership committee. The family is grateful to those who helped Joan leave this world in peace: Dr. Robert Henry, the nurses at St Raphael’s hospital and Hartford Visiting Nurses, her caregiver Fay Blake, as well as her friends at Elim Park, especially Nancy Papa.

Sorry to hear about Joan's passing. She was always very nice to the two of us and I loved talking golf with her. May she Rest In Peace.

Cheryl and Dana,
You have my deepest condolences. Mrs. Andrews sounds like a wonderful person and I'm sure she will be missed. I hope you can find comfort in knowing that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. — Shirley Todd (Cheryl's co-worker in Kentucky)

Cheryl,
I am sorry to hear of your loss. I hope only best for you and your family. God Bless.
Thinking of and praying for all of you right now. May the Lord's deep, abiding peace comfort and carry you. (Cheryl's coworker in Ohio)
I'm a resident of Elim Park. I've known Joan about a year and a half now. I will miss her pleasant smile as she scooted around the campus. Most of all I will miss her on her scooter facing the sun in the late afternoon as it comes around the building (Riverbend). You see I live in Brooksvale next to her and I'm on the ground floor so I could watch this action by Joan every afternoon from my porch. I also watched her do this the week before she passed. Peace to you Joan and may all your times in heaven be sunny!
Hi! First let say I’ve recently been looking into my family history. Barbara Ramsbottom was my great grandmother and Robert Ramsbottom was my grandfather. Joan Ramsbottom-Moore was my mother whom this Joan Rivers. Andrews was named after. My mom passed in 2005 and my grandfather before her I believe in 2004. I was amazed to see this Joan had passed away and also recently Elaine as well, which my mom had named me after her, Kristen “Elaine” I’m going to leave my email address for family to email me,
