James P. DiCaprio, 90, of North Haven, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 28, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband for 58 years of Anna M. Bonanno DiCaprio. He was born in Bridgeport on March 13, 1922; son of the late Ralph and Carmela DiNuzzo DiCaprio, and adopted son of the late Pasquale and Palma Iannuzzi. James had served his country faithfully as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WW II having received the European African Middle Eastern, the Asiatic Pacific and American Theaters Campaign Ribbons; he was the co-owner with his twin brother Anthony of the former Jet Woodworking Company until his illness. Father of Donna Bonito of North Haven, Janet DiCaprio of West Palm Beach, FL, James (Linda) DiCaprio of East Hampton and Lisa DiCaprio of West Haven. Grandfather of Nicole and Matthew Bonito, Adam Bouhamdan, Matthew Brown, Leah DiCaprio and Andrew Brown. Brother of Tommy Gambardella of Milford and the late Mary Mastrioianni, Luke, Joseph, Pat and his identical twin Anthony DiCaprio. Brother-in-law of Margaret DiCaprio of Hamden and Isabella Musto of East Haven. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Friday morning at 9:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 10:00. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 pm.
