Carolyn (Brockett) Behr, age 90, of Meriden, formerly of Cheshire and North Haven, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 2, 2016 at the Connecticut Baptist Homes in Meriden. She was born in East Haven on February 6, 1926 to the late Leon and Ruby Woodruff Brockett, the youngest of four siblings. She moved to North Haven, where she spent most of her life, and graduated from Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford in 1943. Carolyn had a successful career as an executive secretary, most notably at the Southern New England Telephone Company, where she deftly managed the busy offices of top floor executives. A friend introduced her to the love of her life, John Behr; they were married in 1964 and had one daughter. Carolyn was an active and devoted member of the Montowese Baptist Church in North Haven, serving in countless roles including deacon, financial secretary, Sunday school teacher, and historian. She was a past worthy matron and lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Carolyn was gifted with sewing, crochet, and all needle crafts and later developed a passion for rug hooking, even dyeing her own wool. She was a talented cook and gardener, an avid bowler and card player, and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, volunteer and friend. Carolyn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Paul Sarrazin, and their daughters Anna and Laura, all of Berlin; five nieces and a nephew, and many great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her siblings Isabelle Brockett, Ellsworth Brockett, and Mae Critchley. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Connecticut Baptist Homes for their loving care.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Montowese Baptist Church on Saturday morning at 11:00. Family and friends may call from 10:00 am until time of service. Interment will follow the service in Montowese Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Montowese Baptist Church, 201 Quinnipiac Avenue, North Haven, CT 06473.

Dear Christine,Paul,Anna & Laura, Carolyn was a wonderful woman that we always enjoyed talking and visiting with. We will miss her as I know you all will but have great memories of a truly lovely lady. Our deepest sympathy.
Our sympathies & prayers to you all during this difficult time.
So sorry for your loss. May your memories keep her ever with you.
I am so sorry for your loss. I would like to share a promise that Jehovah God has made us in Revelation 21:3-4 states, And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. Very soon now, we will never experience losing our loved ones in death.
Carolyn and I worked together at SNET years ago and we enjoyed many years of friendship with a group of co-workers. I have spent this past week reliving memories of those happy days. She was a beautiful person, always a lady and a good friend. We lost touch after John died but I will always cherish those days and her memory. May she rest in peace. My most sincere condolences to her family.
