Josephine Helen Drozdz Durkin, 87, of Old Post Road, Northford, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Village Green, Wallingford. She was the wife of the late Raymond F. Durkin. Born in North Branford on November 27, 1924; daughter of the late Michael Drozdz and Mary Cedzidlo Drozdz Richkowsky. Josephine was a member of the North Branford Senior Center and an animal lover. Mother of Raymond J. (Siggy Cognetta) Durkin of ME, Linda (Roscoe) Javins of Northford, Nancy (Richard) Herz of RI and Janice Durkin Santanello of East Haven. Loving grandmother of Michael Durkin, Erik Durkin Lagerstrom, Carrie (Josh) Hawkins, Rosalind (Dan) Salz , Christina Santanello and the late Heather Durkin. Predeceased by sisters, Genevieve Celmer and Anna Perkowski.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Augustine Church, 30 Caputo Road, North Branford on Saturday morning November 3rd at 10:00 to attend a mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal services immediately following in All Saints Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2911 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, CT 06518.

Mom (Mary Rak) is recovering from a fall and hip fracture and would have liked to have offered her condolences in person. I have fond childhood memories of visiting the farm with my father (who your mother always referred to as her “baby brother”). Please accept our sympathy.
Mom has gone to join our departed loved ones. We can only picture her greeting everyone she sees with her favorite last words “Ya Hoo” and “I love you”. We love you too Mom.
