Maria Cipullo Bencivenga, 87, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Friday, December 4, 2015 at Yale New Haven Hospital with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Mario Bencivenga. Maria was born in Santa Maria Capua Vetere Province di Caserta on September 7, 1928; daughter of the late Pasquale and Maria Antonia Mirto Cipullo. She came to America in 1969 and had worked as a seamstress for New Haven Coat, Henry Richards and Amy Sue, Inc. retiring to take care of her grandchildren. Maria loved cooking and sewing for her family and enjoyed gardening.  Mother of Luigi (Anna) Bencivenga, Rosalba (Salvatore) Pellino, Giovanni (Nicoletta) Bencivenga, Marco (Julie) Bencivenga and the late Gabriella Bencivenga. Grandmother of Teresa Pellino, Natasha (Justin) Barry, Nicole Bencivenga, Mario (Erica) Bencivenga, Marc Bencivenga, Tammi (Chris) Spose and Daniela Pellino. Great- Grandmother of Sean Lubanda and Claire Bencivenga. Sister of Antonietta Tommasone, Agostino (Rosetta) Cipullo, Immacolata (Giuseppe) Valentino, Teresa (Valentino) Ricciardi and the late Giovanna Fasci. Sister-in-law of Sebastiano Fasci and the late Antonio Tommasone.

Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue Tuesday morning at 9:15.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Anthony’s Church, New Haven at 10:00 am.  Entombment will follow in Saint Lawrence Mausoleum.
