Julio Alvarez, 80, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Friday, November 9, 2012 at the Arden Health & Rehab Center, Hamden. Beloved husband of Gloria Cerra Alvarez. Born in Havana, Cuba on October 9, 1932; son of the late Jesus and Isabel Mier Alvarez. Julio was a Physical Therapist at Bridgeport Hospital until his retirement. Father of Gloria (Edson) Alvarez-Kayser of Wallingford and Marty (Bryan) Alvarez-Reeves of Boston. Grandfather of Diego and Sofia Kayser. Brother of Elena Napoles of Miami, FL. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family. Predeceased by eight brothers and sisters. The family would like to extend a “Heartfelt Thank You” to the staff at the Arden Health & Rehab Center for the special care they have given to Julio.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Tuesday morning, Nov. 13th at 9:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Therese Church, North Haven at 10:00. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. The visiting hours will be Monday, Nov. 12th from 5 to 7 pm.
