Ernest “Ernie” A. Holcomb Jr., 78 of North Haven, husband to Irene (Kelsey) Holcomb died at his home with his family at his side, Oct 28, as he wished. Ernie was born Feb 7, 1935 in Hamden to the late Ernest Sr. and Alicia (O’Connell) Holcomb. Ernie was honorably discharged from the U.S Navy, after which he returned to North Haven to marry Irene. Ernie enjoyed a long retirement in which he spent most of his time hunting and fishing with his family and friends, his true passion in life. Ernie is survived by his wife Irene their six children Ernest, David, Edward, Marsha, Michael and Doreen, fourteen grandchildren, his siblings Robert, Margaret, Linda, as well as many nieces and nephews also survive Ernie.
The visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Masonicare Home Health & Hospice c/o The Masonic Charity Foundation of Ct., P.O Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492.
