Raffaele D’Antonio, 86, of East Haven, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the CT Hospice, Branford. He was the husband of Livia Lucatino D’Antonio. Born in Gioia Sannitica, Caserta, Italy on November 23, 1926; son of the late Gabriele and Maria Michela Zurlo D’Antonio. Raffaele was a member of the Laborers Union Local #455 and had worked for the former C.W. Blakeslee Construction Company. He loved playing cards, fishing, hunting, gardening, crabbing and playing bocci. Father of Maria (Carmen) DiMatteo, Gabriele (Carmela) D’Antonio, Anna (Michael) Troiano, Antonio (Rosemary) D’Antonio, Vincenzo (Teresa) D’Antonio, Orietta (Anthony) Nucolo, Olimpia D’Antonio and the late Rosa, Michelina and Filomena D’Antonio. Brother of Michele D’Antonio of Gioia Sannitica, Caserta, Italy and the late Gaetano D’Antonio. Brother-in-law of Elisa Dichello D’Antonio and the late Anna Gaudio D’Antonio. Also survived by 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue on Tuesday morning at 9:15. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 10:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 pm.
