Lilyan E. (Kurzbacher) Donovan, 93, of Durham, formerly of New Haven and Bethany, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at the Twin Maples Health Care. She was the wife of the late Francis Marty Donovan. Born in Brooklyn, New York on June 19, 1919; daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine Pasteur Kurzbacher. Lilyan was a long time employee of the A.C. Gilbert Company as well as the National Folding Box Company. She is survived by her son Dennis M. Donovan and his wife Elizabeth of Clinton; son Martin J. Donovan and wife Dorine of Naugatuck; a sister Katherine Mattiello of Satellite Beach, FL; grandchildren Duane P. Donovan, Kelley Brasier, Sarah Donovan, Tracy Hall and Michele Stern. Also survived by eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Mary’s Church, 54 Grove Street, Clinton on Saturday morning, Dec. 15th at 11:00 to attend a mass of Christian burial. There will be no visiting hours. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Twin Maples Health Care Recreation Fund, P.O. Box 423, Durham, CT 06422. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue has been entrusted with the arrangements.
I will always cherih my memories as a child of the weekends when my Aunt Lilyan & Uncle marty and the boys would visit us from New Haven.
