James Richard Coss, 82, of North Haven, passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the MidState Medical Center, Meriden. He was the husband of Mary A. Chiappetta Coss. Mr. Coss was born in New Haven on January 15, 1930; son of the late Joseph M. and Dorothy Holian Coss; had served his country faithfully in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and had worked as a treasurer for the C. Cowles, and Co. for many years until his retirement. Father of Lisa M. (Karl) Blees of North Haven, Stephen F. (Judy) Coss of Madison, WI and David J. (Francine) Coss of East Haven. Grandfather of Olivia Blees, Dylan, Kevin, Brett, Stephen, Anthony and Joseph Coss. Brother of Gertrude Rzasa of Orange, Joseph P. Coss of West Haven and the late Marie Weyer.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Monday morning at 9:30. Family and friends may call from 8:30 to 9:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 10:00 am. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O. Box 515, Northampton, MA 01061-0515.
It was a priviledge to know ‘Babe’ and I will keep his family in my thoughts and prayers.
