Robert Dest, Jr, 53, of North Haven, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the St. Raphael Campus of Yale-New Haven Hospital. Robert was born in New Haven on November 5, 1960; son of Rose Marie Giovanelli Dest and the late Robert Dest, Sr. He was a union carpenter, an avid sports fan and enjoyed music and concerts. Father of Jessalynn A. Dest, Robert A. Dest. Step-father of James A. Nazario, Jr. and Joseph W. Wenzel, Jr. Brother of John (Louise) Dest, Frank Dest, Laura Dest and Stephen (Amy Migliore) Dest. Also survived by his former wife and best friend Debbie Dest.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Wednesday morning at 9:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Therese Church at 10:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm.

So very sorry to hear about Bobby. Though we weren't actually related, we shared an aunt, uncle, and three cousins. I'll always remember his smiling presence on holidays at our cousin Patty's house. To the Dest Family, I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Bobby years ago at North Haven Tile and he was just a great guy and a hard worker. He had a great sense of humor and never got rattled over anything. He was always smiling and was just a genuinely nice guy. He will be missed. May God comfort all of you and take care of Bobby.
