Donald L. Montano, Sr., 80, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at his home. He was the husband of the late Madeline Rose Posack Montano. Donald was born in New Haven on December 25, 1935; son of the late Vincent “Bull”Montano and Amelia Fappiano Montano; served his country faithfully in the US Army during the Korean War and was Vice-President of National Lumbar. He enjoyed fishing, going to Florida but most of all spending time with his family whom he love unconditionally especially his grandchildren. Father of Bernadette Montano, Donald Montano, Jr. (Terri), Vincent Montano (Tina), Regina Cone (Brian) and Jeanine Montano. Grandfather of Bryan, Justin and Joshua Montano, Henry “Bub” Rodriguez, Jr. . Also survived by his former daughter-in-law Karen Montano, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by brothers J. George and Vincent Montano, and sisters J. Patricia Schomburg and Carmel "Connie" Slubowski and a son-in-law Henry Rodriguez, Sr. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr. Jacqueline Satchell, the many nursing and physicians staff at the VAMC, West Haven, Ms. Susan Boudreau and Ms. Lynn Harris for the excellent care and assistance they provided over the last few years.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue Monday morning at 9:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 10:00 am. Interment with full military honors will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park. The visiting hours will be Sunday from 1 to 4 pm. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.
