Marion L. MacDonald, 87, of Hamden, passed away on January 10, 2013, after a brief illness. She was born on October 19, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Anthony and Loretta (Steiner) Dinser. Marion was a 1943 graduate of Visitation Catholic High School in Detroit. She worked as a secretary for Lamson & Sessions. Marion was married to her beloved late husband, John (Jack) Seaman MacDonald, in 1948 and they settled with their three children in Stamford, CT in 1963. They were charter members of St. Gabriel’s Church, where she was active as a volunteer in the church women’s group. Marion also volunteered at the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center in Stamford. Marion loved singing, baseball, bowling, playing cards and spending time with her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Marion moved from Stamford to Whitney Center in Hamden in 2004. Marion is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard G. and Madeleine MacDonald of Fremont, NE, and their children, Blair and Patrick, and Patrick’s wife Laura; her son and daughter-in-law, John M. and Lynda R. MacDonald of Redding, CT and their children, Thomas and Carey; and her daughter and son-in-law, Joan M. and Kevin J. Buckley of North Haven, and their children, Katie, Michael, and Sara. Marion is also survived by her brother, Robert W. Dinser of Novi, MI, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother John M. Dinser.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 14, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Rita’s Church in Hamden. There will be a reception immediately following the service at Whitney Center, 200 Leeder Hill Drive, Hamden. Donations in her memory may be made to the Connecticut Food Bank, PO Box 8686, New Haven, CT 06531 or Easter Seals Goodwill Industries 432 Washington Avenue, North Haven, CT 06473. Should friends desire, gifts of flowers may be sent to Whitney Center in Hamden.
