Edith G. Cann Burr, 98, formerly of Brook Lane, West Haven, passed away Friday, January 11, 2013 at the CT Hospice, Branford. She was the wife of the late Harold R. Burr. Mrs. Burr was born in New Haven on November 18, 1914; daughter of the late William and Amelia Bodi Cann; had worked for the former New Haven Screw Machine, then the Laundry Mat on Congress Ave., New Haven and later as a waitress for the former Rivoli Lucheonette in West Haven. Mrs. Burr was a member and Past President of the West Haven Italian-American Civic Association Ladies Auxillary; the Allingtown Senior Center; the Jolly Timers; loved to dance and was Past President of the Vinny Carr fan club. Mother of Lois McDermott, Sonny (Elaine) Burr, Joyce Clarke and the late William Burr. Also survived by 17 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Predeceased by her son-in-law Eugene Clarke, a grandson Scott Case, brothers Raymond & Edward Cann and a sister Mabel Alfano.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue Tuesday morning, January 15th at 10:30. Family and friends may call from 9:30 am until time of service.
