Marie Anquillare Apuzzo, 88, of North Haven, formerly of Orange for many years, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014 at her home. She was the wife of the late Louis P. Apuzzo. Marie was born in New Haven on September 25, 1925; daughter of the late Theodore and Antoinette Buonocore Anquillare; she and her late husband were the owner and operators of the former Apuzzo Market, West Haven. Marie was an active parishioner and volunteered much of her time to St. Therese Church, North Haven; was a member of A.C.I.M. but most importantly was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her “little pumpkins” whom she loved unconditionally. Mother of Patricia (Thomas) Elliot, Mary Lou (John) DiPaola and Michael P. Apuzzo, Sr. and his late wife Regina. Grandmother of Stephen (Claudine) Elliot, Christopher (Alison) Elliot, Melissa (David) Knight, Mark Peter (Cristiana) DiPaola, Scott (Kate) Apuzzo, Michael P. Apuzzo, Jr. and Louis C. Apuzzo. Great-Grandmother of Andrew, Matthew, Ashley, Celeste and Dax Elliot, Juliana DiPaola and Luca Knight. Sister of Ceasar Anquillare and Louis (Rosemarie) Anquillare.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue Thursday morning at 9:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Therese at 10:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association, 4 Oxford Road, Unit D4, Milford, CT 06460 in memory of her late husband Louis P. Apuzzo.

I will always remember Marie as a wonderful person. Whatever she did she did with warmth, sincerity and fine appreciation of life. As a member of ACIM she was one who always supported the organization with her participation and support of all events. Her warm smile, personable nature and gentle kindness will surely be missed by one and all.May she find eternal happiness in the arms of our Lord.
