Dorothy Eleanor Flood, age 86, was born August 22, 1929 in Hartford, Connecticut and spent most of her life in the Greater New Haven area of Connecticut.  She was born to eternal life on August 29, 2015. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Vincent Raymond Flood and Victoria (Karcauskas) Flood.  She is survived by her sister Lauretta Flood Newman and her brother-in law Bernard W. Newman, M/SGT Retired, U.S. Army.  Also surviving her are beloved cousins and the many life-long friends she made throughout her life, especially those associated with her 40 plus year career at Anthem Blue Cross in Connecticut. She attended Truman Street School and graduated from Commercial High School, in New Haven.

Dorothy drew people to her because of her quick wit, her zest for life, and the love and concern she showed those in need of encouragement, when life was difficult.

A funeral Mass was celebrated in Dorothy’s Parish in Florida on September 3rd .   A private interment will take place in the Flood family plot on September 9th in Saint Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven, Connecticut at 10:00 a.m.    Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at 11:00 A.M. at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 44 Washington Ave. North Haven, Connecticut. A Repass for Dorothy’s family and friends will take place at Bellini’s Restaurant, 2 Broadway, North Haven, Connecticut immediately following the Memorial Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s name may be made to St. Anthony Catholic School, Marcum Road, Lakeland Florida 33809.
