Margaret Massa Iannitti, 91, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, January 4, 2015 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Dante E. Iannitti. Mrs. Iannitti was born in New Haven on March 17, 1923; daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine Buonocore Massa; was a graduate of Commercial High School and had worked as a Secretary for Hamden High School for twenty-seven years until her retirement. She loved to cook for family and friends; was a devote catholic and a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Mother of Anthony Iannitti and his wife Amanda Learnard, Raymond Iannitti, Theresa Khan and her husband Sam. Grandmother of Sonia Khan and Lily Iannitti. Sister of Katherine Aurora, Joseph Massa and his wife Christine, and the late Anthony Massa, Louise Pazik, Mary Buonome and Ann Izzo. Also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home 36 Washington Avenue Wednesday morning at 10:30. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian burial will follow in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 11:00. Interment will follow in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden.
I worked with Margaret for many years at HHS. SHE WAS ALWAYS SOFT SPOKEN AND THOUGHTFUL. SHE WAS A GOOD FRIEND.
