James J. Alexander, 93, of Ashlar Village, Wallingford formerly of Mill Road, North Haven, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at MidState Medical Center, Meriden. He was the husband of the late Doris Roberge Alexander. James was born in New Haven on February 17, 1920; son of the late John and Rebecca Winnie Alexander; served his country faithfully as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WW II; had worked for Upjohn Company for many years retiring as a Supervisor of Maintenance Construction; had served as Chairman of Senior Housing in North Haven for eight years; was a 63 year member and 50 year past master of the Corinthian Lodge No. 103 A.F. & A. M. of North Haven and a member of the Temple Sweethearts Square Dance Club. Father of Gregory (Rita) Alexander of Deep River, Thomas Alexander of Burlington, Arthur (Lisa) Alexander of Cheshire and Beverly (Rodney) Thomas of Fayetteville, NY. Also survived by twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and his companion for the past ten years Christine Smith of Wallingford. Predeceased by his siblings, Robert Alexander, Thelma Radawicki, George, Carl, Leonard and Fred Alexander.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Saturday morning March 2nd at 10:00 with the Rev. J.P. Morgan officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Friday March 1st from 5 to 8 pm.
