Wayne Scott Batter, 55, of Northford passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Yale New Haven Hospital with his family by his side. He was born in New Haven on April 8, 1958, to Sydell Abbott Batter and the late Martin Batter. Wayne received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Marketing from Bryant University, and was a member of the Beta Sigma Chi fraternity. Mr. Batter was the President of New Haven Windustrial for many years, helping to open numerous other locations throughout the state, garnering the respect of his peers and patrons alike. Wayne was compassionate, giving, and a friend to everyone he met. He loved travel and music. Wayne enjoyed both cinema and the stage. Wayne was a sports fan as well as a fantasy sports guru. He was a photography enthusiast, but above all else he loved to spend time with his family. Mr. Batter is survived by his beloved wife Marie and his children: Keith Batter and wife Alexandria of Wallingford, Brittnie Batter and boyfriend Joe Niezelski of Wallingford, Josef Jindra Jr. and wife Ann of Santa Fe, NM. He was the loving Papa of three grandchildren—Patrik, Grace, and James Jindra—as well as brother to Glenn Batter of East Haddam, and the late David Batter. Wayne was also the proud Uncle to his two nieces, Sarah Batter of East Haddam, and Rachel Batter of Norwich.
A funeral service will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Saturday, December 7th, at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Timothy Meehan officiating. Family and friends may call from 10 am until time of service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Should friends desire, memorial contributions in Mr. Batter’s honor may be made to the New England Organ Bank at www.neob.org.
I have many good memories of Wayne from childhood on but my most recent ones are that when I stayed with Wayne and Marie a couple of Years ago and was introduced to the world of fantasy football. It was quite a revelation. The last conversation that I had with Wayne was when he called me recently to say that altough he didn't want to brag his beloved Cowboys had beaten my Giants for one of their few wins.I will miss these exchanges and all others.
My thoughts and prayers are with my aunt Sydell, cousin Glenn and all of their extended family in their dolorous hour.
May the personal memories the family and friends have of Wayne be a source of comfort, and may the promises that Jehovah God gives be your source of strength and hope. Jesus Christ said at John 5:28,29 says: "Do not be amazed at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out."
My sincere sympathy to the family.
