Andrew J. “Red” Scasino, 87, of Wallingford, formerly of New Haven, passed away peacefully at the Masonic Health Care Center, Wallingford on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of the late Marie Grippo Scasino. Red was born in New Haven on June 24, 1925; son of the late Dominic and Filomena Vietri Scasino; served his country faithfully in the U.S.Navy during WW II; had worked as a Mail Handler for the U.S. Postal Service for many years until his retirement; was a member of the St. Trofimena Society; enjoyed UCONN Football and Women’s Basketball Teams. Father of Dominic J. Scasino of Wallingford and Carmine A. (Jennifer) Scasino of Northford. Grandfather of Marie Beth Scasino. Predeceased by a brother Paul Scasino. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to the Masonicare & Hospice and to Floor 6-5 East Pavillion of Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Ave., North Haven on Saturday morning at 10:00 am to attend a mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal services immediately following in All Saints Cemetery with military honors.
