Carmel “Millie†Amatruda Laudano, 98, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the Mary Wade Home, New Haven.
She was the wife of the late John Laudano. Millie was born in New Haven on July 16, 1914; daughter of the late Aniello and Rachela Proto Amatruda. She started working at the young age of 14 in the shirt factories of New Haven. She enjoyed 63 years residing on Hyde Street in New Haven. Her final years were spent at the Village of Mariner’s Point, East Haven and the Mary Wade Home where she made a lot of friends and always kept them laughing. She was known at both places for the hats, scarves and blankets she crocheted for the residents and employees of both place.
Mother of Rachela (Tom) Player of Chalfont, PA, Carol (Jerry) Acquarulo of North Haven and the late John A. Laudano. Grandmother of Gerald (Dianne) Acquarulo, Frankie (Domenica) Acquarulo, David (Emily) Player and Jennifer (Patrick) Pottinger. Great-grandmother to Jared, Rory, Madison, Valerie and Marino. Sister-in-law of Anne Amatruda of Branford and Aunt to many nieces and nephews in the area.
Predeceased by her siblings Teresa Bellantone, Frank and “Butch†Amatruda.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Avenue, North Haven on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 10:00 am to attend a mass of Christian burial. The visiting hours will be Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 5 to 8 pm at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Interment will be privately held in All Saints Cemetery. Was so sorry to hear about Mom. Please accept our regrets on her loss. I know you will have many pleasant memories to sustain you. She’ll only be a thought away. You’ll still be able to talk to her. I’ll bet she’s be begging God to let you in for all the curses you bestowed upon her.
