Philip T. DiPeri, 69, of North Haven, passed away Monday, March 11, 2013 at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven from complications due to lymphoma. He was the husband of Elizabeth J. Anderson. Philip was born in New York, New York on May 30, 1943; son of the late Philip J. and Constance (LoDolce) DiPeri; served his country faithfully in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam war having received the Vietnam Service Medal with one star and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with device. Philip obtained his BS from Stony Brook University and his MBA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He was Managing Director of Stonehedge International, a general management consulting firm, and taught business courses at Long Island University, the University of Massachusetts, and Keene State College and was listed in the Who’s Who in Finance and Industry and Who’s Who in Communications and Media. Philip was active in the North Haven Congregational Church, including moderator for three years and built their website; was previously active in the North Amherst Congregational Church; was a member of the North Haven Ethics Board; member of the Advisory Board at the Scibelli Enterprise Center at Springfield Technical Community College, Springfield, MA and was a former member of the Board of Directors of the First Call for Help in Amherst, MA. Father of Bronwyn DiPeri (her children Aidan, Kieran, Torin, and Dakota) all in Tuscon, AZ and Israel DiPeri, his wife Valentina, and their son Andrei all in Brighton, MA. Step-Father of Jessica Cushenberry, her husband Michael and their children Taylor and William all in Woodstock, GA. Brother of Timothy DiPeri, his wife Denise and their children in Franklin, TN and Susan Petrie, her husband Bob in North Port Florida and their children. Son-in-law of Robert S. Anderson of Amherst, MA. Also survived by many other relatives, friends and colleagues.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, April 20th, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the North Haven Congregational Church, 28 Church Street, North Haven. There will be no visiting hours. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the North Haven Congregational Church or the American Red Cross to support their provision of blood to cancer patients. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, North Haven has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Phil and I were friends in HS. We have not crossed paths in many years and I am truly sad to have read of his passing in my local newspaper (Hampshire Gazette, I live in Amherst). I also did not know of his connection to Amherst and UMass. My thoughts go out to his family.
