Betty M. (Walsmith) Walters, 89, of North Haven, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with family by her side. She was the wife of the late Raymond E. Walters. Betty was born in Logan, Ohio on February 3, 1924; daughter of the late John W. and Margaret M. (Flowers) Walsmith. Betty loved and cherished all things in nature and especially enjoyed feeding and caring for birds, squirrels, and other wildlife. She was an avid advocate for animal rights, had rescued several dogs, and generously supported many charitable animal welfare organizations. Mother of Lynne (William) Rodgers of Kokomo, IN, Kathleen (John) Sutherland of Willington, CT and Robert (Lorraine) Walters of Webster, NY. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kristen (Daniel) Tirreno, Lindsay (Joshua) Proctor, Stephen Sutherland, Bradley Rodgers, Mark Walters, Jennifer
Sutherland, and Sarah Walters.
A private service will be in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PETA, P.O. Box 96684, Washington, D.C. 20094-0684.
