Carl M. Brown, Jr., 88, of Whitney Avenue, Hamden, a former resident of Glastonbury for 34 years, passed away Friday, October 3, 2014 at the St. Raphael campus/Yale-New Haven Hospital.  Carl was born in Cheshire on October 29, 1925; son of the late Carl M. Brown, Sr. and Byrta V. Ennis Brown.  He attended Mt. Carmel Grammar School, graduated from Hamden High School in 1943, obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from UCONN, a Master’s degree from Springfield College; served his country faithfully in the US Army during WW II.  Carl worked in Rochester, NY, Buffalo, NY, and Hartford for the United Way retiring in 1990 as a Social Worker. He was a lifelong republican, was a member of the National Association of Social Workers since 1956; was a golden member of the American Legion; was the family historian with ancestors dating back to the Mayflower and the American Revolution.  Brother of Ruth Brown Fredericks and the late Ruby V. Jordon and Ella E. Susmann.  Also survived by many nieces & nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Thursday afternoon at 2:00. Family and friends may call from 1:00 until time of service.  Interment with full military honors will follow in the North Haven Center Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Department of Veterans Affairs, PO Box 310909, Newington, CT 06131.
