Florence Piscitelli Manzo, 98, formerly of Todd Drive South, North Haven, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at the Whitney Manor, Hamden. She was the wife of the late Saverio “Sam” Manzo. Florence was born in New Haven on December 16, 1915; daughter of the late Vincent and Vincenza Nuzzo Piscitelli and had worked as a seamstress in the New Haven area for 48 years until her retirement. Florence was a member of the International Ladies Garment Union; loved cooking, baking, crocheting and gardening. Mother of George (Diana) Manzo and Ronald Manzo. Grandmother of Ronald, Jr., Karen, Kimberly, George, Jr. and Robert. Sister of Margaret “Peggy” Celotto and the late Frank, Luca, Peter and Joseph Piscitelli, Rose Celotto, Filomena Longobardi, Angelina Romano and Carmel Lucibello. Also survived by 11 great- grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Laura and all of the staff at the Whitney Manor for the dedicated care they provided to Florence over the years.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Friday morning at 9:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 10:00. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 pm.
George You were a devoted son. I'm sure your mother is resting in peace now with your dad. May God bless you and your entire family. Rest in Peace Florence.
