Lois Hannon Barry, 85, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2013 at her home. She was the beloved wife of 59 years to James A. Barry, Jr. Lois was born in New Haven on April 7, 1928; daughter of the late Thomas F. and Gladys M. Bahr Hannon; had worked as Secretary to the President of the former Brock Hall Dairy of Hamden and later along with her husband operated the former North Haven Package Store. She was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting, an excellent baker, parishioner of St. Frances Cabrini Church, member of its Women’s Club, but most of all Lois was dedicated to her family whom she loved unconditionally. Mother of Pamela Barry Maher, James A. Barry III both of North Haven, Thomas H. Barry of Guilford and Lisa Barry Gentile of North Haven. Mother-in-law to her special son-in-law James G. Gentile of North Haven and her special daughter-in-law Margaret A. Barry of Scotia, NY. Grandmother of Joseph James Maher, Sean Thomas Barry and Barry James Gentile. Also survived by her loving dog Clarence.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Thursday morning at 9:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Frances Cabrini Church at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park. The visiting hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 pm.
