Ronald James Maynard, 70, longtime resident of North Haven, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the cherished and loving husband of Gayle Campbell Maynard. He was born in Ansonia, on April 10, 1943; son of the late Ralph and Burtnether McPhail Maynard. Ron served his country faithfully in the U.S. Marine Corps during the early 1960’s and took part in the Cuban Missile Blockade. A Graduate of Southern CT State University, he worked as salesperson in the Glass Bottle and Pharmaceutical industries until illness forced his early retirement. He was an avid golfer and member of the Laurel View C.C. for many years. He coached North Haven Youth Hockey, and was an active member and Liturgical Assistant at St. John’s Episcopal Church.

Besides his wife, Mr. Maynard is survived by his children, Heather Maynard (Sam) Groves of Concord, North Carolina and Michael S. Tobin of New Milford, two granddaughters, Skylar Corrine Groves and Meghan Anne Tobin, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, the late Ralph K. Maynard.

His Funeral Procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Monday morning at 9:30. Funeral Services will be conducted in the St. John’s Episcopal Church at 10:00. Interment with full military honors will follow in Center Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Sunday from 3 to 7 pm.
