Marian Cunningham Staples, 94, formerly of Rimmon Road, North Haven, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 28th, 2013 at the Colonial Health & Rehab, Plainfield. She was the wife of the late Arthur C. Staples. Marian was born in East Haven on February 15th , 1919; daughter of the late James and Catherine Bloomfield Cunningham; was a member of Christ & The Epiphany Church of East Haven where she was a member of the choir; was a member of the Eastern Star; was an avid gardner; loved to sing; enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, word search games and loved to read. Mother of Linda Carlson and her husband Warren Carlson, Jr. of Griswold, and the late Nancy Erickson. Grandmother of John (Tiffany) Erickson, Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO, Tammy (Robert) Hamelin of Meriden, Erica (Ron) Coutu of Griswold and Scott Erickson of Wallingford. Also survived by nine great-grandchildren, her son-in-law John Erickson, Sr. of Wallingford and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by her siblings Catherine Yale, James and George Cunningham, Eleanor Seymour, David and William Cunningham.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Friday morning at 9:15. Services will be conducted in Christ & The Epiphany Church, East Haven at 10:00. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park. The visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 pm.
